A Brief Note About Comments

After some discussion it appears that the Kelgarries Blogswarm won't be able to support comments at this time due to sheer volume of material we need to work with to achieve our goals. Once we migrate to our own servers (scheduled for early 2009) we'll be able to support a full comments implementation.

Thanks for your interest, and enjoy the blog!

How To Subscribe To Transcendences As An RSS Feed In Internet Explorer 7

It has come to our attention that many readers of Transcendences would like to have the ability to know when new posts are available automatically. Fortunately, the internet and IE7 provide this feature very nicely.

Rather than duplicate postings and eat up space here at Blogspot, we have posted a very simple but quite effective Tutorial on the matter at our sister blog, Tutorials On Using Voltaic Difference Engines. Enjoy!

...Yellow Polka Dot Bikini....

It is truly frightening how early we imprint on some things. This song (Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini) was released in the early 1960's, when I was in my late teens. I doubt if right now I could remember another hit tune of that era (until the Carpenters' Now and Then brings them back, of course!), but this one stuck to my mind like nanotech glue.

And that brings us around Deadman's Curve to the subject of this blog, namely the wild and wacky world of nanotechnology. Make no mistake, what you can't see can both help you and hurt you. Some people believe the unconfirmed Morgellon's Syndrome is the result of nanotechnology gone horribly wrong, for example. Yet at the same time we are rapidly approaching the ability to insert nano-scale bio-mechanical robots into our bloodstream to do all sorts of jobs current medical technology cannot.

So look really really close, gentle readers, and you'll fall with me through the looking glass into the itsy bitsy teeny weeny rabbit hole of the future... (Images courtesy of FNF and Foresight Nanotech Institute.)
